As The Leaves Turn Brown

I never did wish to part from the comfort of Melian’s domain, only granting the halls of Menegroth my presence as a matter of necessity. However, those halls are not exempt of bringing their presence to me, as I found when a boy entered Doriath and piqued my interest. With the permit of Melian I approached him, and “Nellas” is what my tongue spoke. He knew nothing of Doriath, nor Sindarin so I sought to teach him of our ways. My appearance in age was like his, so he took well to my approach, and we grew fond of each others’ presences, him often returning with a joy to learn and indulge in the comfort of the woods. Then, the seasons change. As the boy’s and my likenesses grew apart so did we, and he turned to Menegroth with his new knowledge to seek activity in places where I could not follow.             While his wind may have taken him to the halls of Menegroth, I never did leave his side. A fondness entered my heart at the sight...

Prosecution Recap

I believe the prosecution for this case had a much more defensible position, especially due to my prior dispositions. While there were certainly some difficult to argue points regarding Feanor and his sons’ fealty towards the oath, the kinslayings (particularly the one against the Teleri) proved to be very convincing for the jury. They ended up siding with our side, so it seems that we did a respectable job with this case. The only thing I wished we pinned on Feanor that we didn’t actually desire (asides from adding the punishment of the unmarked grave) was something regarding my character Melkor. Feanor and his sons swearing the oath towards a false lord should have been enough incentive, in my opinion at least, to have dropped the oath but the defense arguing against the oath by arguing the laws of Tolkien’s world was actually pretty convincing so, at least for me, that point was a bit harder to convince the jury of. One thing we did manage to g...

Of Humanity and Darkness

I imagine they’re laughing at me from their palace of peace and harmony. To think there was a new people to be fed my darkness, and to think I have failed so horribly in my purpose. Insignificant distractors have ensnared my attention away from corruption as their elvish cries plague my ears and drown the innocent melody awaiting my corruption. Is it a cruel irony that songs of war are capturing my attention when I least desire them? I suppose it may be so, but if they ensnare and tie my hands, let they be tied into a fist. To sow the seeds of conflict is not the only preparation of my darkness, and as hornets swarm and consume the security of a passerby, so shall my forces and I. If they do not wish to eat of my poisoned comb and instead make peace with the elves, then I shall innovate on discord myself. Let their joyous laughter turn to screaming as orcs tear loved ones limb from limb and crush the roofs they labored their w...

Melkor’s Lament

Why should Eru hold to key to creation? Is my song not as beautiful as theirs? To think that I, mightiest of the Ainur, should be denied the Flame Imperishable is tyrannical. The song that Eru sings is flowing, beautifully harmonic, but is it vain to prefer the creation of my own? The other Ainur join me in my song, and Eru drowns me at the raise of a hand. Those Ainur that don’t are favored by Eru, and granted lenience, such that they may create with minimal scorn. Aulë is granted lenience for the dwarves, yet I must be forced to maintain mediocrity. I am unique, I am what all of them cannot be, I have been granted all parts of the mind of Eru. As Aulë desires creation, so do I. As Yavanna kindles growth, so do I yearn for. My power is greatest, as is known by all the Ainur, so why do I not feel as though I have power? To sing my song is my ultimate rebellion, but despite my efforts I am silenced in Eru’s infallibility, his final deafening melody obliterating my s...
